Vandyke Brownprint – Light-Sensitive Solution 50 ml | Szlachetna Fotografia
Discover the unique character of historic photography with Szlachetna Fotografia. The Vandyke Brownprint process, also known simply as Vandyke, is one of the oldest photographic techniques alongside cyanotype and salt printing. Valued for its exceptionally subtle tonal range and characteristic warm brown coloration, it allows the creation of elegant and durable prints with a unique handcrafted appearance.
The offered light-sensitive solution is ready to use and sufficient for producing approximately 50–70 prints in A5 format, depending on the coating method and the type of paper used.
Applications of the Vandyke process
As with other historic photographic techniques, Vandyke prints are created using the contact printing method with UV-rich light sources such as:
- sunlight
- UV and quartz lamps
- tanning beds and other ultraviolet light sources
After exposure, the prints are developed in a water bath and then fixed using a sodium thiosulfate solution.
Characteristics of Vandyke Brownprints
Photographs created using the Vandyke process are distinguished by:
- warm brown image tones
- soft and smooth tonal transitions
- excellent archival permanence
- the classic appearance of historic photographic prints
The process works exceptionally well with both analogue negatives and digital negatives printed on transparent film.
